Selma’s daughters and son reopen their deceased mother’s lunchroom on this day

On the day of their mother’s birthday and the six-year anniversary of the lunchroom, the children of Selma Beytemur open the doors of Enfesso again. Their mother died in January from the effects of the corona virus. “The three of us will continue her life dream together with her partner.”

Mehmet, Seda and Ferda still have to find their feet in their mother’s business. Because Selma was Enfesso and try to emulate that. That is why the three have chosen to warm up for a few days and officially open the doors to guests on Friday 25 February.

Partner in the kitchen

After the opening of Enfesso six years ago, Ferda helped her mother’s business for a few years. “I gained a lot of experience then that comes in handy now. My mother did everything on her own. We now do it with the three of us, together with her partner Vakkas as a cook in the kitchen.”

Flowering plants everywhere

During a sunny Wednesday afternoon, a number of customers take a seat on the terrace. Selma was a star in making her outdoor space attractive by filling it with flowering plants. A man on the terrace says that he thinks it is fantastic that her children are continuing the business. “Selma was such a friendly woman.”

Not getting over my heart

Mehmet, Seda and Ferda didn’t have to think twice about continuing their mother’s life’s work. “I can’t bring myself to close the business and sell it,” Seda says. “Even though all three of us were not active in the hospitality industry, we can’t help but continue with Enfesso together. Not only for our mother but also for her loyal guests. And if it doesn’t work, at least we tried.”

Tiny kitchen

Enfesso won’t be quite the same without Selma, but her three children do their very best to make it just as welcoming. The menu remains the same and special wishes are simply prepared. “My mother always conjured up the most delicious dishes from the tiny kitchen. We will continue to do so with her partner and cook Vekkas in our midst. Friday will not be a festive day. It feels a bit double. We miss our mother very much but at the same time we are happy that we are opening her Enfesso again.”
