Prague (dpa -AfX) – The Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj thanks in Prague for the Czech ammunition initiative. After a meeting with his Czech colleague Petr Pavel, he praised the “unshakable and fundamental support” by the EU and NATO member state. As part of the initiative, the Czech Republic mediates artillery ammunition from third countries.

“We will continue these deliveries as long as it is necessary, especially until a fair peace for Ukraine has been achieved,” emphasized Pavel. The ex-Nato general announced that 1.8 million shots could be provided by 1.8 million shots of large-caliber ammunition. The initiative is currently being financially supported by eleven states. There are also negotiations on contingents for next year.

From the beginning of the year to the end of April, deliveries were already at 400,000 shots, according to the Department of Department in Prague.

Strong safety precautions when visiting Selenskyj

Selenskyj had arrived on Sunday with his wife Olena for an unannounced two -day visit to Prague. There were sharp safety precautions. For Selenskyj it is the second visit to the Czech Republic. His host Pavel had only visited the Ukrainian port city of Odessa on the Black Sea at the end of March.
