Moritz Seider and the Detroit Red Wings are gradually losing their good starting position in the NHL after their strong start to the season.
The national ice hockey player and his club lost 1:5 in the traditional duel with the Chicago Blackhawks on Sunday and suffered their fourth defeat in the last five games – despite 45 shots on goal. After the seventh defeat of the season, there is a risk of slipping out of the play-off ranks in the East.
Detroit fell behind after just 59 seconds thanks to young star Connor Bedard, who used the first power play for Chicago. But just four minutes later, Red Wings captain Dylan Larkin equalized.
At the beginning of the second third, the Blackhawks also scored in the majority through Teuvo Teräväinen (24th). In the final third, Tyler Bertuzzi scored the visitors’ third power play goal (46′). Andre Burakovsky also scored into an empty net (56th) and Oliver Moore scored for the first time in the NHL (60th).
Seider played his 344th consecutive NHL game since his debut. The 24-year-old is now just one game shy of the Red Wings record set by John Ogrodnik, who began his career in 1979 with 345 games without a break. The club’s “Ironman” record is held by Alex Delvecchio, who played 548 games in a row from 1956 to 1964 – although only later in his career.
