Police have arrested a second suspect for the violent robbery of Mark Gillis. It concerns a 42-year-old man from Rosmalen. A 39-year-old man from Den Bosch had already been arrested earlier. A third suspect is still being sought. Gillis was robbed at his chalet in Ommel in early November.
The suspect from Rosmalen was lifted from his bed in a house in Drunen on Tuesday morning.
Mark Gillis says he is relieved. He was notified by police on Tuesday morning. “I am very pleased that this has happened. The police are doing their job well and I am confident that the third suspect will also be arrested.”
Gillis was badly beaten, but has since recovered physically from the abuse. “But I still suffer from it psychologically. Especially in the evening and at night. I am alone then and every sound wakes me up.” He says that’s why there’s always security when he comes home. “It was also there before the incident, but now permanently. Hopefully not for long. If necessary, I can also press an alarm button, no fun at all.”
Robbery on Gillis
Mark Gillis was brutally robbed in the night of 6 to 7 November last year when he arrived at his chalet at the Prinsenmeer holiday park. The detectives then carried out an extensive trace investigation. One of those leads eventually led to the arrest of the first suspect. His DNA resulted in a match in the database of the Netherlands Forensic Institute. This Bosschenaar is still in prison.
The second suspect was identified in the follow-up investigation. The police say that the investigation is still ‘unabated’. A third suspect is still being sought.
