The good news: the Amstelveen woman has now completely recovered. She also decided to stay in the Netherlands. And after five months of not seeing Bicci during her treatment in the Netherlands, the dog was reunited with her owner six weeks ago.
“It is very nice to be together. She is finally back in the Netherlands with me, but I am still recovering,” she explains. “That’s going pretty well. But living in the Netherlands with a dog is different from living in Portugal. I actually need help.”
Long walks
By that help, De Wilde means someone who can take long walks with Bicci, or where she can occasionally spend a night. This can all be done in consultation.
“I’m thinking of a period of a year. I’ve also had to deal with complications, so the recovery is slower.” She does not yet know exactly how the aid should be provided after that year. “We’ll see where it goes. In any case, I really need help in the near future.”
Cheerful and affectionate
De Wilde describes her dog as grateful and cheerful. And even though she’s already ten years old, you wouldn’t think so. “Everyone thinks she’s a puppy. She’s very affectionate, she really wants to be with you.” And: she likes to walk a lot.
“She is a Breton Spaniel, they also need some exercise. But she also likes to lie in a basket at home, play with her ball or crawl next to you on the couch. A stroke on the head is they are already very happy.”
