According to US media reports, the Milwaukee Bucks, NBA champion 2021, are about to be sold. The previous majority owner should get $ 3.5 billion for his shares, making the Bucks the second most expensive club in NBA history.

As the US sports broadcaster “ESPN” reported on Monday (February 27, 2023), co-owner Marc Lasry will sell his majority stake in the franchise for $3.5 billion.

The buyers are Jimmy Haslam and his wife Dee, who already own the Cleveland Browns (NFL/football) and Columbus Crew (MLS/football).

$3.5 billion for the Bucks – only Phoenix was more expensive

The North American professional basketball league still has to approve the deal for the team of Greek superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. So far, only the Phoenix Suns have changed hands for a higher price (4 billion). That was enough for second place in US sports behind the Denver Broncos from the NFL (4.65). Lasry acquired the Bucks with Wes Edens in 2014 for $550 million. Both are hedge fund managers.
