Two people were killed in the accident last night on the A9 near Badhoevedorp. The victims are a 45-year-old woman from Leerdam and a 70-year-old man from Bronckhorst. The police announced this morning.
The two people were both passengers of a passenger car. The driver of the truck was transported to the hospital for checking and arrested ‘for procedure’.
The truck driver is a 76-year-old man from Belgium. The police are investigating and asking people with camera images and witnesses of the accident to report.
The accident happened around 7.30 pm yesterday. The road was closed in both directions for a long time. There were several fire engines around the accident, dozens of police officers, ambulances and also a trauma helicopter.
In addition to the regular fire engines, the fire brigade had also called the crash tenders of Schiphol – special fire engines that can extinguish planes.
