Sebastien Haller reports from the hospital

New signing Sébastien Haller from the Bundesliga soccer club Borussia Dortmund has reported confidently from the hospital after the first treatment steps as a result of his testicular tumor diagnosis. He thanked BVB for their support.

“I would like to inform you that the first step has been successfully completed! I thank BVB and the medical team who have been exceptionally good to me,” Haller wrote on Twitter for a post in which he gives a thumbs up in bed and smiles at the camera.

BVB responded to Haller’s message via Twitter: “Nice to see you with a smile, Sébastien Haller! We wish you a speedy recovery!”

As soon as the diagnosis became known, Haller had received numerous recovery requests from the sports world – including league rival FC Bayern or ex-club Ajax Amsterdam. Haller had felt uncomfortable at the BVB training camp on Monday, intensive examinations followed, which then led to the diagnosis of a tumor.

The 28-year-old, who came from Ajax Amsterdam for 31 million euros in the summer, immediately traveled to Dortmund for further examinations. The district club had promised the Ivorian full support.

Kehl and Terzic shocked after Haller’s diagnosis

“Today’s news was a shock for Sébastien Haller and for all of us. The entire BVB family wishes Sébastien that he will recover completely as soon as possible and that we can hug him again soon. We will do everything in our power to ensure that he gets the best possible treatment,” said Dortmund’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl on Monday.

Head coach Edin Terzic also wished the new centre-forward “that he gets well again as soon as possible”. For the time being, Terzic has to rely on the existing offensive forces in preparation. Sébastien Haller’s contract with Borussia Dortmund runs until 2026.
