Jojo (Johanna is her baptismal name) was last seen on Tuesday morning at her care institution Het Gastenhuis aan de Zandzegge in Zwolle.
The police sent a first Burgernet report on Tuesday morning. She closed the campaign an hour later, but reported a few hours later via the official channels. The police spoke of an ‘urgent missing’.
“The family is concerned and we share those concerns,” police spokesman Remco van Straaten said. According to him, the disappearance is therefore ‘urgent’.
The police have launched several searches in recent days. Spokesperson Simone van Dijk said that a search for Jojo was conducted on Wednesday and Thursday. The police did this after receiving ‘useful tips’.
Search in the water
On Wednesday a helicopter flew over the city. “But unfortunately we found no leads,” says Van Dijk.
On Thursday, divers entered the water in Stadshagen, near Het Gastenhuis:
According to Van Dijk, an underwater search was conducted, but again without results. “We completed the investigation at the water during the afternoon,” she says. “We call on people to remain alert.”
If anyone has seen Jojo or has more information, the police would like to hear from you. This can be done via 0800-6070, the investigation tip line. In emergency situations, the police can be reached via 112.
‘Abnormal situation’
Healthcare institution Het Gastenhuis cannot share substantive details due to the privacy of the residents and those involved. “The police are emphatically in the lead in this situation and are responsible for communication,” location manager Diana Menninga responded to questions from the Stentor.
She was able to indicate that employees of Het Gastenhuis ‘quickly noticed that there was an abnormal situation’.
“We immediately acted in accordance with our internal protocol for missing persons. We immediately started a targeted search, informed the family and contacted the police in a timely manner.”
The Stentor has contacted the family, but they indicate that they want peace. Jojo’s stepson did share a message on social media on Tuesday. ‘She has dementia, she doesn’t know where she lives. She is extremely friendly, but her stories are confusing,” he wrote.
