The search for missing Mick (19) from Helmond was stopped just after eleven o’clock on Friday evening. The police reported this on X. The mentally challenged boy has been missing since Thursday night. The emergency services will start another major search on Saturday morning.
“The search for Mick has been temporarily stopped. We remain alert to information and tips that could lead to his whereabouts,” the police wrote. on X.
Mick disappeared around three o’clock in the night from Thursday to Friday at his parental home on Edelhertlaan in the Brouwhuis district of Helmond. Camera images taken shortly afterwards in the immediate vicinity of his home show that he was wearing little clothing.
He was probably wearing black Nike shorts and a red, pink shirt. Mick has a light complexion, blonde wavy hair, is about 6 feet tall and wears glasses. The police announced at the end of Friday afternoon that Mick may have been seen near the Ommelseweg in Asten around half past twelve in the morning.
On Friday, people searched for Mick all day long in Helmond, Vlierden and Asten. The snow made the search difficult.
Major search on Saturday
Missing Coordination Platform has announced a major search operation from the CPV Wagen at Heibloemweg 10 in Helmond for Saturday morning from 10 a.m. The platform asks volunteers aged 18 and over to dress warmly for the search. The police Mobile Unit and the Veterans Search Team Foundation (VST) will also continue their search on Saturday morning.
The family and emergency services are very concerned about Mick. “He never actually went out alone,” said Ruud Hendriks, Mick’s father’s cousin, on Friday afternoon. “This has never happened before. Mick’s father woke up because he had to go to the toilet and saw the front door open. Outside the family, Mick has poor communication skills.”
The major search started in Edelhertlaan, where Mick lives, and was expanded from there. About a hundred veterans from the Veterans Search Team Foundation gathered on Friday afternoon in the canteen of the tennis club, at the Espendonk sports park. The Mobile Unit (ME), a drone team, a police helicopter, the Netherlands Rescue Dogs Foundation (SIN) and a group of local residents also joined in the search.
