The craft, with about 800 beer caps glued to it, was lying on a trailer when Kooyman and his wife unsuspectingly set off in the car. Once home, the craft work had disappeared without a trace. Through video footage they eventually found out what fate the record had suffered.

On the side of the road

Kooyman: “We actually found out too late, so we couldn’t find it.” There was still a glimmer of hope, because a passerby had spotted the plate on the side of the road. But when Kooyman went to the spot, the tinkering was gone.

“I think it was destroyed and the municipality or someone else found the work and took it away. That was a bit of a shame,” he explains.

Looking for new beer caps

De Kwakelaar is not one to give up. The solution? A new record. “We’re looking to see if someone can help us with new beer caps,” he explains.
