The bronze body is based on Greek bronze sculptures ‘Bronzi di Riace’, also called Riace warriors. The images were found in the sea in 1972 at Riace in southern Italy. “The images now rinse in Middelkerke, as a guest of this hospitable municipality,” says Vanmechelen.
