Noah Weiland posted worrying Instagram messages about financial struggles and mental strain after a tribute concert for his father, Scott Weiland.
Noah Weiland caused a stir with alarming Instagram stories. Around a week after an emotional tribute concert in honor of his late father, Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland, Noah Weiland, himself a musician, published a series of worrying Instagram stories. The 25-year-old posted three messages on his channel on Thursday afternoon that conveyed both gratitude and deep despair.
Thanks and financial disappointment on Instagram
The first story seemed comparatively harmless: “Thank you everyone. See you next time,” Noah wrote, accompanied by the Green Day song “Last Night On Earth.” But the second message brought financial concerns into focus. Noah said the tribute show raised $10,000, but his own share was just over $1,000. “Split between me and three other band members – does that even make sense mathematically?” he asked, before concluding with a curt “NOAH WEILAND – OUT” and a heart emoji.
Dark thoughts on the anniversary of my father’s death
However, the third story was particularly shocking – a candid look into Noah’s mental state. “I would rather be DEAD than live like my father,” he wrote, while also expressing his desire to see Scott Weiland again. The former Stone Temple Pilots frontman died of an accidental drug overdose in 2015 at the age of 48. December 3rd marked the 10th anniversary of his death. Noah himself has repeatedly spoken about his own addiction problems in recent years.
The musician shared his plans for the near future on Instagram:
New music and the path to recovery
Despite the disturbing story news, the singer also recently appeared hopeful. In an Instagram post, he announced the release of his mixtape CRASHOUT JUNKIE next week and talked about his planned tour in January and his return to Alcoholics Anonymous. “I love you dad, I’m so blessed and grateful,” he wrote – words that suggest the young musician wants to continue fighting for a stable path.
