Attention Formula 1 fans-at least that with an infinitely deep wallet: Michael Schumacher’s Ferrari-Bolide from the 2001 Formula 1 season is auctioned again. The F2001 brought a record price the first time. The sum at that time is to be topped this time.
One of the most dominant Formula 1 racing cars ever comes under the hammer: As the auction house “Sotheby’s” announced, Michael Schumacher Ferrari is auctioned from the 2001 season. The whole thing will go on a corresponding framework: before the Monaco Grand Prix this year.
Principality is mainly the right point of contact because it is expected that the F2001 will be sold for a new record price – for the second time. The car was already auctioned in 2017. At that time, an unknown buyer paid a whopping $ 7.5 million. This made the F1 bolide the first in history to change the owner for over five million US dollars.
Schumi dominates the 2001 Formula 1 season
The F2001 was one of the most dominant Formula 1 cars ever. In 13 out of 17 races, Michael Schumacher headed the racing car in 2001 to places one and two, nine races. In the driver’s World Cup, the German legend ended up with a lead of 58 points to David Coulhard (McLaren). Already five races before the end of the season he had his fourth title in his pocket.
With the chassis 211, which is now for sale, Schumi won the Monaco Grand Prix that year.
“We are very happy to bring the chassis back to the place of a historical victory. To be able to auction it out at the Grand Prix weekend in Monaco, is an immense privilege,” said “Sotheby’s” sales director Augustin Sabatié-Garat in a statement.
