The 30-year-old allegedly delivered sensitive material to the former bodyguard, already under investigation

The Wuppertal Prosecutor’s Office has also opened a case on a nurse in relation to the attempt to blackmail the family of Michael Schumacher, the former Formula 1 world champion. The nurse had assisted the driver for a certain period, according to reports the Dpa. A spokesperson for the Wuppertal public prosecutor’s office said initial suspicions of involvement in a blackmail attempt were now being investigated. At the beginning of the trial, both the main suspect and an employee of the Schumacher family mentioned the nurse, who, summoned to the courtroom as a witness on the first day, did not show up.

the first arrests

Last June 24, the news was released, published by Der Spiegel, of the arrest of two men (father and son) who had asked for a millionaire sum in order not to publish the contents of some files “not in the interests of the family”. It was Yilmaz Tozturkan, 53, his IT expert son. In July in Wuppertal, a security officer belonging to the former pilot, Markus Fritsche, was arrested as part of the same investigations. Investigators believed the 52-year-old had been working behind the scenes on the blackmail. During the investigation it emerged that the blackmailers must have been aided by an accomplice who had “knowledge of the personal life” of the family. The 52-year-old former security officer from Wülfrath, North-Rhine Westphalia was allegedly tasked with digitizing the family’s private photos and making them accessible to Yilmaz and his son, both accused of attempted blackmail. The 30-year-old nurse, according to what Tozturkan claims, would have delivered sensitive material (1500 photos, as well as videos and medical notes) to Fritsche (a relationship between the two is also hypothesized) because she was in need of money.
