Often just a joker at SCF

After reports of interest in RB Leipzig’s André Silva, another Bundesliga striker has apparently moved into the focus of Red Bull Salzburg. As the “Salzburg News“ reports, the troubled former Austrian series champion with the new sports director Rouven Schröder at the helm tried to recruit Michael Gregoritsch. But SC Freiburg vetoed it.

The 63-time Austrian national player was reportedly not averse to it. For the 30-year-old, it would have been a return to his homeland, which he left in 2012. The fact that Gregoritsch is often just a joker for the Breisgauers this season may also have played a role. He was in the starting line-up five times out of a total of ten appearances.
For Salzburg, on the other hand, he would have been a direct hit in terms of sport and humanity, the newspaper writes. The club has a need given the injury to top striker Karim Konaté (20). The Ivorian suffered a torn cruciate ligament at the end of November and will probably be out until the end of the season. Since Fernando (25) has also been missing for months, the club currently only has the inexperienced Moussa Yeo (20) and Petar Ratkov (21) available; Gaoussou Diakité (19) usually plays for Liefering in the second division.
Together, Yeo and Ratkov only have six goals this season. Despite injury, Konaté is still the top scorer with eight goals. Salzburg are currently ten points behind defending champions Sturm Graz in the Bundesliga and are only in fifth place.
