The arrival of a multifunctional center in Schoonoord is one step closer. The municipality wants one place for education, sports clubs and social organisations. Aldermen Jeroen Huizing (Education) and Joop Brink (Sports and Social Domain) today signed an agreement for the new center.
The center will house the village hall and the schools De Slagkroooie and the Burgemeester van Royenschool. The buildings of these schools are outdated and need to be renovated. According to the municipality, it has several advantages if the schools are located in one location. For example, the organizations can then share spaces with each other. The schools will not be merged, but will end up in the same location.
In addition to the schools, there may also be other (social) associations in the building, such as football association KSC, korfball association SDO, Dorpsbelangen and Social Welfare Coevorden. The sports hall will be preserved and renovated. The best location for the center is being sought in the vicinity, for which three locations are in the picture.
