Scholz wants 80 percent of Germans to have received their first shot by January 7

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz has launched the goal of having 80 percent of the German population administered a first shot by January 7. Today, 61.2 million Germans have received at least a first shot, or 73.6 percent. To reach the 80 percent target, an additional 5.3 million people will need to get their first shot by January 7.
