In the conflict between Russia and the EU and in the current situation around Ukraine, one should rely on diplomacy. About it declared German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at the Munich Security Conference.

“For this, we use all negotiating channels: the Russia-NATO Council, which took place for the first time in many years, the OSCE,” he said. According to him, the “Norman format” remains decisive for resolving the conflict in the south-east of Ukraine.

He stressed that the European Union and Russia have contradictions on security issues, but there is still room for dialogue. “Our task remains to look for moves that would lead to negotiations,” the politician added.

Scholz warned that negotiations with Moscow should not be expected to make quick progress, but he assured that it was the negotiations that would help reverse the crisis dynamics.
