Scherpen with the Dutch Juniors step closer to European Championship

As a result, the Netherlands took over the lead in the group from Switzerland and has a place in their own hands for the final round.

The Netherlands took the lead after 2 minutes through Quinten Timber. The FC Utrecht player scored after a cross from Milan van Ewijk and a transfer from Joshua Zirkzee. Brian Brobbey scored the second goal after more than fifteen minutes. He first encountered the goalkeeper, but still managed to get the ball through the ball and tapped in controlled.

Brobbey, who has been active for Ajax for the past six months, also scored goal number 3. This time he did so after a cross from Mitchel Bakker.

After the break, there was actually a phase in which Moldova frequently reported near the goal of Kjell Scherpen. Yet it was Orange that struck. A cross from Mitchell Baker was tapped against its own post, after which the rebound ended up at Brobbey’s feet. After that, the Dutch Juniors regained control and it was close to the fourth goal through Jurgen Ekkelenkamp, ​​among others, but it did not fall.

On Tuesday, the Dutch Juniors will play against Gibraltar in Almere. The group stage of the qualification will conclude on Saturday 11 June with an away game against Wales.

The European Championship will take place in Romania and Georgia in 2023.
