Schalke: Soichiro Kozuki is out for a longer period – ankle surgery

“I was never completely pain free”

FC Schalke 04 will have to do without Soichiro Kozuki for a longer period of time. As the penultimate table in the Bundesliga announced on Monday, the 22-year-old winger will have an ankle operation. The Japanese injured himself in training about three weeks ago.

Kozuki was still active for 1. FC Düren in the Oberliga last season. The attacker, who was signed for the Schalke reserve, recommended himself with good performances for a professional contract and has been part of coach Thomas Reis’ team since the beginning of the year, for which Kozuki started five times and scored a goal before he was injured.

“We initially had hopes that he would be able to come back quickly, but he was never completely pain-free despite being fully integrated into training. Therefore, we carried out further examinations and finally decided together to have an operation. It’s the best way for the player and for us in the long term,” said Gerald Asamoah, Head of Licensed Players.
