Nicole Kidman as Kay Scarpetta, a forensic pathologist who serves as Virginia’s chief medical examiner. For her it is a return, having started her career there almost thirty years earlier.
While investigating a murder, the doctor highlights disturbing similarities with an unsolved case from the past which raises a doubt: could the person arrested years earlier not be guilty?

Scarpetta, an eight-episode series, is inspired by Patricia Cornwell’s novels which see the doctor-investigator as the protagonist. It is a classic procedural, with the female component at the center of the narrative (there is also Jamie Lee Curtis as Kay’s eccentric older sister) with all the internal torments, failures and attempts to rebuild a life.
The thriller canon, with the shadow of the serial killer hovering over the narrativeintersects with soap or family drama dynamics, too often bordering on these dynamics to the detriment of the investigations.
For those who love female detective stories with their aspects of private life and introspection.
