Football second division SC Paderborn has made a decision with regard to the successor of coach Lukas Kwasniok.
As the “Westfalen-Blatt” reports on Tuesday, SC Paderborn is relating to a newcomer to a trainer for the new second division season. According to this, Ralf Kettemann is to take over the management of the team for the new season.
The obligation would be a surprise: Kettemann, 38 years old, does not yet have experience in the professional area.
After his end of career as an active player (including 43 third division games for the Stuttgart Kickers and VfR Aalen), he began his career on the sidelines at TSV Ilshofen, after five years he moved on to TSG Hoffenheim, where he looked after the 2nd team. In 2020 the move to Karlsruher SC followed, where he has headed the U19 since then.
According to the report, the contract between the coach and the club has already been negotiated, the signatures alone are still missing. The change is therefore possible, since Kettemann has an exit clause in his KSC contract that enables him to step into the professional area.
Kettemann is aiming for title with the KSC juniors
With the KSC youth, Kettemann had made it to first place in Group D in the new DFB youth league, before RB Leipzig and BVB. In the round of 16 against HSV, however, it was over after extra time. One title is still possible: On Friday (6:00 p.m.), the Karlsruhe U19 in Potsdam will play against Werder Bremen for the junior cup.
In parallel to his work at the KSC, Ralf Kettemann is currently taking part in the football teacher course, together with DFB assistant Sandro Wagner and Barcelona-Co coach Heiko Westermann. If the end is successful, he receives the pro license and can then coach in the professional league.
SC Paderborn played for a possible promotion to the Bundesliga for a long time in the past second division season under Lukas Kwasniok, in the end it was only enough for fourth place. Kwasniok has been a coach at the SCP since 2021, first of all he is aiming for a short break. However, the 43-year-old is traded at FC Schalke 04 and 1. FC Köln.
