Vienna (dpa) – Handball Bundesliga leader SC Magdeburg meets the Croatian representative RK Nexe from the city of Nasice in the semifinals of the European League. That was the result of the draw in Vienna.

The second semi-final on May 28 will be played by Wisla Plock from Poland and hosts Benfica Lisbon. The Portuguese capital had previously been chosen to host the Final Four tournament. Magdeburg had not made any effort to align it.

“We’re not going to Lisbon just to be there,” said SCM Managing Director Marc-Henrik Schmedt of the dpa. You want to defend the title and you have to win both games. “We know Plock and Nexe, Lisbon not yet. In any case, the Croatians are a tough opponent waiting for us,” said Schmedt.

The SCM had already played against Nexe in the group phase and won 32:26 and 28:24. The two teams crossed paths again last season. At that time it was 32:24 and 28:23 for Magdeburg.
