Homegrown is set
Nicolas Höfler has again extended his contract with SC Freiburg. The 32-year-old defensive midfielder was promoted to the professional team in 2010 after spending several years in the youth departments. This makes him one of the five most loyal players in the Bundesliga – Höfler only spent two years on loan at Erzgebirge Aue from 2011 to 2013, but was always under contract with the sports club. As usual, Freiburg did not provide any information about the term of the working paper.

“Chicco has literally been a central component of our team for many years,” said sporting director Jochen Saier. “He is one of the anchors and pacesetters of our game and, not least because of his career and his mentality, symbolizes the Freiburg way.” Höfler, who is among the top 10 Freiburg record players and will soon overtake Alexander Iashvili, said: “I am I’ve been at the club for so long and I feel so comfortable that the only option I had was to extend. When you see what we’ve achieved in sport over the last few years, it’s just a lot of fun. I want to continue on this path.”
