SBS 6 stars under fire after gossiping about TV cry Prince Maurits

SBS 6-star Bart Ettekoven and Guido den Aantractor get a big slap on the wrist for gossiping about Prince Maurits’ TV cry. “The knife is in and it has to keep turning!”

Prince Maurits, the nephew of Princess Beatrix, let his emotions run free during a TV interview with the Amsterdam city channel AT5. When interviewer Kemal Rijken asks the prince what makes him happy, he starts to cry profusely. And that’s remarkable, because most people cry at home instead of in front of the camera.

“This is bizarre!”

The stars of Shownieuws gossiped extensively about the royal waterlanders on Friday evening. Why was Maurits crying so uninhibitedly? “It seems like something very bad is going on, doesn’t it”, Guido den Aantrekker remarked. And colleague Bart Ettekoven: “I think he is very affected.”

That gossip about the crying Maurits completely goes down the wrong way with Kemal. The gentleman who interviewed the prince roars: “It’s bizarre that after months of preparatory work and an hour-long in-depth interview with Prince Maurits, you suddenly have to deal with ‘experts’ from Shownieuws who get away with one moment from the conversation…”

Vulnerable

Kemal finds it praiseworthy that the prince dares to be so vulnerable. “It became an in-depth conversation about his life in the capital, the A’dam solar energy policy, doing business as Orange, the monarchy and what happiness means to him. While answering that question, Maurits became emotional.”

He continues: “Isn’t it nice that someone from the royal family can also be vulnerable and show his emotions? But no, the ‘experts’ of Shownieuws get confused and start speculating: ‘Isn’t there just something going on here, Bart? Is something going on? This can’t just happen out of the blue come?’”

“What the F*CK!”

Unprecedented, Kemal thinks. “WTF? You can voice your opinion, but be glad that someone like the prince shows himself from his human side. But no… The knife is in there and has to keep turning.”

He continues: “Yeah. That way, the prince doesn’t really get a fair chance with your audience. I’m slowly starting to realize why these kinds of interviews are so rare. Apparently someone like a prince can never get it right…”

Bit more serious

But… Those tears from Maurits are also good juicy? What does Kemal think is the most interesting part of his interview? “Interesting are certainly the first part (‘why live and work in A’dam?) and the second (‘A’dam’s solar power policy and what it’s like to do business as Orange’)… (…) That is for me a lot more interesting.”

Ah, so the highlight is Maurits talking about solar energy. Maybe Bart and Guido can look back at that… With two skewers at the ready.
