Sassuolo-Cremonese 3-2, Bajrami decides in recovery

Laurienté show: goal from a free kick and assist to Frattesi. The Nigerian’s brace makes it 2-2. Grigiorossi chasing the outside shot, but a right-footed volley from the former Empoli closes the practice

The mockery for the Cremonese comes when Laurienté – always on, always decisive – sees Bajrami on the other side of the area: it’s a moment, 3-2 for Sassuolo which rises to 30 and leaves a bad taste in the mouth of a Cremonese very lively and well in a second half that saw the black and greens disappear (until the new advantage) also thanks to Ballardini’s substitutions and a higher competitive figure by the gray and reds. Posts and crossbars taken, five goals (the last one in added time) and two signals: Cremonese doesn’t overtake Sampdoria but they’re there; Sassuolo rises again for good, it proves it has it even when everything seems written.

Stone, pole and heel

Dionisi has Berardi disqualified and from that side (left) passes Defrel giving the center of the attack to Pinamonti: on the left, Laurienté “holds” everything. The Cremonese, after the first victory in the championship against Roma in the penultimate round, always play everything for everything and the offensive trident says that this is the path to take: Okereke, Tsadjouit and Felix are the attacking trio initially hypothesized and then set on the challenge table. It is, then, a “masked” trident because the three strikers of Sassuolo are shielded by lowering Sernicola and Valeri alongside the three central defenders, bringing the system into 5-4-1 in its defensive phase. The first high note comes from Cremonese (followed by 2,000 fans at Mapei): blow from Okereke in the 11th minute, not by much. The Lombards have boldness and resourcefulness, so much so that Sassuolo’s first ring comes (after development with three passes and that’s it) with Pinamonti (15 ‘) on which Carnesecchi rejects on low opposition. The number one of the Grigiorossi, however, was stunned when the punishment for the advantage of the Emilians started: after a foul by Benassi on Pinamonti, here was the stone from Laurienté, central and violent, apparently acceptable but not too much. It is the advantage of Sassuolo which then sees Chriches come out among the Lombards who get hurt during a duel with Pinamonti himself. Cremonese doesn’t feel the pinch: from a corner kick, (35′) Tsadjout hits the header and Consigli’s outside post. Vivacity that does not fade, therefore, but which is further crushed by a mistake by Pickel in the disengagement: stolen ball in the middle of the field, back-heel by Laurienté and crafty goal by Frattesi for 2-0. Then, Benassi (45’ pt) commits Consigli from afar while Felix goes down a minute later but there are no conditions for the penalty.

Another pasta, another form

In the second half Ballardini slips Dessers in for Felix and launches a more “pushing” 3-4-1-2: Tsadjout again goes close to goal with a header but it is Sassuolo who hit the crossbar with Defrel after (another ) escape of Laurenté. Sassuolo in control, Cremonese who can’t find good references and supplies for his forwards who, however, when in possession, know how to create expectations. Then, as often happens, a big mistake is needed to recreate dreams: Erlic’s one arrives in the 17th minute, a back pass full of superficiality to Dessers who puts Consigli in the corner for the 2-1. In the 30th minute it was Ciofani who seriously engaged Consigli on his way out: it was the spark that unleashed the Grigiorossi, capable of exploiting a superficial Sassuolo and returned to the field with arrogance. In the meantime, Ballardini also slipped in Ciofani and Buonaiuto and it was again Dessers in the 38th minute who slipped in Consigli: even if held back by the shirt, the attacker flies and stamps the equalizer. An unexpected 2-2 in that first half in which Sassuolo seemed dominant. Then, the blaze: Laurienté leaves Vasquez in place, the ball to Bajrami and Carnesecchi is beaten. La Cremonese dreamed of the turnaround. But he can still dream of salvation.
