Saskia Belleman receives a yellow card from Victor Vlam, because she blames Marco Borsato for the image he has painted of the household of his alleged victim. “She doesn’t understand.”
Nathalie Thielen, the former chairman of Marco Borsato’s fan club and the mother of his alleged abuse victim, has sought publicity with a major interview in the AD. She contradicts some claims Marco made in court about the loose sexual morals in her household and some notable incidents.
Through the ice
Why did Marco portray that family in such a sexual way? “I think it diverts attention and still portrays him as someone who ended up in an environment where everything was considered very normal, so it is not surprising that he may have gone a little over the line,” says Telegraaf journalist Saskia Belleman.
She continues at the ratings flop desk RTL Tonight: “He fell through the ice for me because he felt it necessary to defend himself by dragging two other people through the mud.”
Sneak at Leo
Albert Verlinde thinks that Nathalie also makes it personal. “In this interview you also occasionally read a big blow to Leontine: ‘It wasn’t all that pleasant at home and that’s why he came here.’ I don’t find that very appetizing, if I’m honest.”
Saskia sternly: “The question is of course: did he cross the line with a 15-year-old girl? That is what that case should be about and that case is not about free sexual morality within that family.”
‘She doesn’t get it’
Media critic Victor Vlam believes that Saskia is missing the point. “On RTL Tonight, Saskia Belleman shows that she has not understood a crucial point of the Borsato defense. He did not mention the morals in the Thielen family to divert attention, but to explain his behavior, such as buying lingerie with the daughter.”

Not infallible
A certain Ronald speaks sternly to Victor. “Sure, let’s take your word above that of Saskia Belleman, who was actually present at the trial and has been a court reporter for many years. She probably won’t understand it.”
Victor concludes: “I appreciate Saskia very much, but of course she is not infallible.”
