Just before the finish it almost went wrong: she couldn’t find the way anymore. “I heard the finish, but I didn’t know where to go. And I was in the middle of the forest, so I couldn’t see where to go.”

To make matters worse, her GPS did not cooperate either. “I panicked. Then I called a friend and he calmed me down and explained how to go to the finish.”

And once she saw it, she could no longer be kept. “I really wanted to run through the finish, not walking. It was really a very nice feeling when I had made it.”

Thought of father dragged her through difficult moments

She has thought a lot to her father along the way. “During the trip, beautiful memories came to him. As I said in the earlier article: this is really nothing compared to someone in a depression. The thought of him really helped me through it.”

“I thought twice:” Pooh, this is really very heavy. “And you think so if you are depressed. I never allowed the thought that I wanted to stop, but it was really mentally on the edge twice.”

First ultratrail run tastes like more

This was the first ultratrail run that Sara has walked, but it certainly tastes like more. “I just don’t think I’m going to do 101 kilometers again. Maybe only one of 80 kilometers once. But not for the time being”.
