Hammer thrower Sara Killinen, 21, threw a score of 69.50 in Arizona and improved his own record by more than three meters. The woman’s previous record had reached 66.37 in the spring.

With his record, Killinen ranks third in the 22-year-old’s all-time statistics for Finland. His precedents are just Krista Tervo and Silja Kosonen. In the corresponding statistics for women, Killinen is sixth.

An arc of almost 70 meters was enough for second place in the race. The victory was grabbed by the United States Brooke AndersenThe Tokyo Olympic finalist, with a record and a top – of – season result of 79.02.

– I can’t say that the result was surprising, but it was very exciting already yesterday, when we trained together with Andersen, Killinen says in a SUL press release.

– Rinki was perfect, as was the weather. The ridge was so fast that my legs were not yet in a fast enough condition for it. If there had been a slower ring now, I wouldn’t have thrown that far.

“Yes, even 70-meter wishes are”

Killinen’s record was set in the third round. His second-best throw was 64.79, with other throws brought to the record.

– When the other race results of the season have been around 65-66 meters, it is probably my level at the moment. Good to know that a successful throw can throw a long way. Yes, even a 70-meter is in the hopes, said Killinen, who is studying at Virginia Tech.

Killinen hopes to clear the venue for the U.S. University Championships over the spring.

Roosa Ylönen was second in the women’s javelin throw in Tucson with a season-high score of 52.08. Ylönen, who is studying in El Paso, has a record of 54.53.

The United States won the competition Ariana Ince with a result of 58.81.
