Sanne van Assouw from Best missed out on winning The Voice of Holland. The 23-year-old singer had to acknowledge her superior in the final in Ruben Hillen, who walked away with the title.
Sanne had been hesitating for some time about participating in a singing talent show and decided to take the step last year, she previously told Omroep Brabant. Out of three to four thousand candidates, only 72 of them were invited to the Blind Auditions. Sanne was picked out by coach Ilse DeLange.
“I had already come further than I had dared to dream of,” she said. She reached the final, which felt “unreal, fantastic and terrifying at the same time” for her. With her rendition of Strong from London Grammar, she competed in the final against Nieloefaar Bahadori, Thijs Veldhuis and winner Ruben Hillen.
In daily life, Sanne works as a nurse at the Catharina Hospital in Eindhoven. She doesn’t sing for patients there. “I try to keep work and private life as separate as possible, but I notice that this is becoming increasingly difficult.”
The final of The Voice of Holland had already been recorded and was broadcast on Friday evening. The winner was then announced in the talk show RTL Tonight.
