The former prime minister of Finland, Sanna Marin, was interviewed on the talk show of the American MSNBC news channel.
In the interview, Marin gives his opinion on, among other things, whether US President Donald Trump puts enough pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the war in Ukraine.
– I see that he does that [painostaa Putinia]Marin tells MSNBC Morning Joe in the program.
– It is very great that new measures have been taken. However, I think he could do a lot more.
The ex-prime minister does not specify what he is referring to with the new measures. He might mean, for example, the sanctions imposed on Russia by the Trump administration.
Marin says that the United States is the most powerful nation in the world, so its “presence and decisions are key” in resolving the war.
– Of course, the United States could do more. Europe could do more. Everyone could do more to end this war, says Marin.
According to the ex-prime minister, a “lasting, good peace” must be achieved in Ukraine. If the situation remained uncertain, the war would continue in the future, according to Marin.
– We have to put pressure on Putin to make sure he goes to the negotiating table, says Marin.
– Right now, I don’t see enough pressure being applied to Russia.
Marin says in an interview that Ukraine and Europe are “very grateful to the United States for all the help”.
