The derby in the SüperLig between Fenerbahce and Galatasaray was emotional as usual, in the end Fener saved a point with a late equalizer.
National player Leroy Sané scored his first derby goal for Galatasaray in a 1-1 draw between arch-rivals. In the end it wasn’t enough for his new club’s first win in the duel between their arch-rivals from Istanbul, because record champions Fenerbahce and coach Domenico Tedesco equalized in stoppage time.
The 29-year-old Sané gave the guests the lead with a deflected shot in the 27th minute; it was his fourth goal for the “Cim Bom”. The lead lasted until the fifth minute of stoppage time, with Colombian Jhon Durán’s goal saving Fener from the threat of home defeat in the derby.

Galatasaray, who also had former national team captain Ilkay Gündogan in the starting line-up, continue to lead the Süper Lig by one point over Fener. After 14 match days, Trabzonspor is just one more point behind.

As is so often the case, the big Istanbul derby was characterized by emotions and hectic pace. Galatasaray’s Kazimcan Karatas was hit by a lighter in the first half and play was temporarily suspended. In stoppage time he collided with teammate Lucas Torreira and had to leave the field injured.
