A common hobby among millionaire football stars is driving outrageously expensive cars. However, they don’t always have the horsepower monsters under control.

The fact that the football stars of the scene are often spotted with expensive cars is more the rule than the exception these days. For many people, the faster and more extravagant the better. For some, it’s not just one vehicle, but they maintain an entire fleet full of luxury cars.

However, not all professionals are always in control of their horsepower monsters. The latest sad example: West Ham striker Michail Antonio, who caused an accident in a forest with his Ferrari FF, which cost over 300,000 euros, in which he was seriously injured.

A few weeks earlier, Bayer Leverkusen attacker Victor Boniface made headlines. Just a few days after he, as a passenger in a Mercedes, survived a serious rollover accident almost uninjured, an Internet video emerged showing him driving his Mercedes-AMG with a cell phone in his hand. Luckily there were no accidents.

Hoffenheim professional Diadie Samassékou’s accident was almost three years ago. In March 2022, he drove his Lamborghini past three waiting vehicles in a long right-hand bend despite the ban on overtaking. They had previously stopped because the driver of the car in front wanted to turn.

However, as he attempted to overtake, a car came towards him, and Samassékou swerved to the right and hit the woman’s car as she tried to turn. While the TSG professional remained unscathed, the woman sustained minor injuries.

The Brazilian superstar Neymar fulfilled his childhood dream in 2015 and bought a Ferrari 458 Spider worth 280,000 euros. Just a year later, the professional was involved in a crash. Neymar was hardly injured, but the speedster had to go to the workshop.

Ex-Bayern star Arturo Vidal also had an accident in the same Ferrari model in 2015. During the Copa América in his home country of Chile, he wrecked his car on the way to the team headquarters after colliding with two cars. Vidal was under the influence of alcohol, spent a night in prison, surrendered his driver’s license and later tearfully apologized: “I’m ashamed.”

Scandal professional Mario Balotelli should not be missing from the squad. The 33-year-old Italian drove his black Audi Q8 off the road in Brescia in the dark in November 2023 and crashed into a wall.

He was then helped by paramedics and firefighters as he made his way from his wrecked car to the ambulance. He escaped without any major injuries. Gazzetta dello Sport reported at the time that Balotelli later refused to take an alcohol test with the police.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is also known to be a big fan of fast cars. The former Dortmund player did not make it through his career without accidents either. In 2019, when he was working for Arsenal FC, the Gabonese caused a rear-end collision with his Lamborghini Aventador, which cost around 300,000 euros. All those involved remained uninjured. Shortly before, he had attracted attention because he was speeding at almost 160 km/h. The speed limit was 112 (70 miles per hour). For this, the striker had to pay a fine equivalent to around 1,500 euros.

On the way to training for his club Manchester City in October 2019, Sergio Agüero was caught completely demolishing the right front of his Range Rover, which cost around 180,000 euros. So strong that the tire even came off the rim. At least he was still able to take part in training afterwards.
