Sandro Schwarz is the new head coach at Hertha BSC. This was confirmed by the Bundesliga soccer club on Thursday. The 43-year-old will therefore succeed Felix Magath. Last Sunday, Schwarz lost the Russian Cup final against city rivals Spartak mi 1-2 with his previous club Dynamo Moscow. Immediately afterwards he canceled his contract with Moscow, which ran until 2024.

Schwarz, who has only looked after 1. FSV Mainz 05 from 2017 to 2019 in the Bundesliga, is to be introduced to the capital city club in the coming week. During his Dynamo engagement in Russia, he was named coach of the month several times. In contrast to other German coaches such as Markus Gisdol or Daniel Farke, he stayed in the country even after the start of the war in Ukraine.
Black should initially lead the Berliners back into a safe table area after years of sporting descent. Under short-term coach Magath, Hertha just managed to stay up against Hamburger SV (0:1/2:0) in the relegation.
