US President Joe Biden admitted that the sanctions imposed against the Russian Federation would hit the American economy, but promised to protect it. Biden delivered a speech at the White Housededicated to the situation around Ukraine. The broadcast was hosted by the media platform “Looking”.

“I’m going to take decisive action to ensure that the pain of our sanctions is aimed at the Russian economy, not ours,” Biden said.

He commented on the address of the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin February 21, in which the Russian leader announced the recognition of the independence of the Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics, explaining in detail the motives for the decision. Biden noted that he did not hear in it a hint of interest in a real dialogue on European security.

Biden also said in his speech that the US considers Russia’s recent actions to be the start of an invasion of Ukraine.
