Jadon Sancho is apparently willing to return to Borussia Dortmund. As “Sky” reports, the winger is said to have communicated to BVB his willingness to play for the black and yellow for the third time next summer. His contract with loan club Aston Villa and parent club Manchester United then ends; with a market value of 20 million euros, he is one of the world’s most valuable professionals with an expiring working paper.

It is said that there was a new round of negotiations between the 26-year-old’s representatives and BVB, during which concrete figures were also discussed. The pay-TV broadcaster does not mention any amounts, but says that the people of Dortmund now have all the relevant information. The ball is in the Bundesliga second team’s court. Sancho would therefore downgrade inquiries from all over the world for his former club.
Since his contract with the Red Devils ends, this would help BVB financially. Although in the event of a signature, a earnest money could be agreed. When it comes to salary, Sancho would have to accept significant deductions. But he should also be ready for that. Realistic is around 7 million euros per year including bonuses. For comparison: At Man United it should be around 15 million euros.

Sancho played the most games in his career for the black and yellow: 158 games with 53 goals and 67 assists. His market value at BVB also reached a peak of 130 million euros in 2020. In 2021 he left Dortmund for the first time and moved to Man United for 85 million euros – third place among the most expensive departures in the club’s history. In January 2024 he returned on loan for six months and reached the Champions League final with the club. So far this season for Aston Villa, the left winger has made 33 appearances with just one goal and three assists.
Sports director Lars Ricken recently confirmed that Sancho’s return on a free transfer is an issue in Dortmund when asked about possible additions: “We deal with a lot of players and screen them. We check whether they can make us better. We’re doing that with Jadon too.”
