The Verona coach: “With Bowie and Sarr we can return to two strikers, the objective is to return to winning at home”
Paolo Sammarco speaks at the press conference before Verona’s match against Lecce.
“Orban? He made a gesture that was too far from my values - says the coach – this week he trained separately and will not be called up against Lecce. Now we are focused on this match and then we will understand what to do with the club.
It hasn’t been an easy week. The results are not arriving despite everything we are trying hard. At the moment talking about performances is neither nice nor easy, but we have always been involved in the matches and we will also try against Lecce.
As for the rest of the absencesNiasse will not be there due to a flexor problem, Oyekoge has probably finished the season. Bowie and Suslov they came back and did two training sessions. We can return with the two strikers because Sarr has also been with us since Tuesday. Chance of seeing Vermesan? He’s an interesting boy, he joined Milan better than I expected. It’s an option both from the start and during the race.”
Postpone relegation? It’s something that must push the team to give their all until the end. We want to get back to scoring points, to win again at home and above all not to be relegated in front of our fans. These are all things that must push kids to do something more.
The points speak clearly and have been missed. However, the team also fought against Milan until the end on Sunday. Then it’s clear that if you don’t collect it’s not easy, but the team trains well, they do the things they have to do and I don’t see anyone holding back.”
Personal budget? Absolutely negative in terms of points, it’s evident and I can’t hide. We as coaches are judged on that. Personally, however, it is an incredible experience, being able to compare myself with coaches who have won a lot was very interesting and stimulating. I still have a lot to learn and it’s all part of a growth journey.”
