Sami Välimäki played a full four rounds in the major tournament. PDO

Competed in the first British Open of his career Sami Välimäki couldn’t keep up his good mood on the final day.

The Finn started on the greens of Liverpool in 41st place. There were difficulties, especially in the final stages. On the seventeenth fairway, Välimäki hit an unfortunate double bogey and it didn’t go any better on the last fairway either. In the end, the only Finn in the weekend’s rounds ended up sharing 68th place with a +9 result.

The trip to England was ultimately expensive for Välimäki. He received a prize of 38,000 dollars, or about 34,130 euros.

The surprise winner who started the day in first place took the win Brian Harmanwho managed to read -13.

Harman said at the press conference that he received additional motivation for the final day from a viewer who commented in an understated way.

– When I bogeyed yesterday, he said I don’t have enough stones to win. It helped a lot. I pulled myself together and decided I was going to win, said the man celebrating his first career major league pitcher.

Those who shared second place were six strokes behind the American. In addition to the trophy, Harman received a check for three million dollars.
