Sami Kapanen got a job at Philadelphia Flyers

In Kapanen’s new wash, business trips are mainly made alone.

In the spring, the Philadelphia Flyers appointed the Kapanen organization pro scout. In practice, he is responsible for the development of the Flyers promises playing in Europe.

– I sent my CV to about a couple of dozen NHL clubs. Discussions with about five went a little further. When the Flyers came into the patterns, they wanted to finish the process quickly. The decision was easy in the end, Kapanen opens.

Kapanen, who has played 12 seasons and 831 matches in the NHL, represented Flyers as a player for five and a half seasons.

His coaching career started at KalPa in Kuopio, which he also owned until the spring of 2020. In the end, he also served as the head coach of the KalPa league team for more than two seasons.

The most recent main responsibility expired in Lugano, Switzerland, in December 2020. Now is the time to settle down.

– Traveling after puddle coaching does not serve the daily balance of the family. We want to offer my wife Ava’s daughter the opportunity to go to school with the same friends.

– The people around me have long been on the terms of my career.

There is enough work

Kapanen is able to handle new work from his home office.

He doesn’t have to travel to smaller junior hockey tournaments around the world.

Kapanen enjoys being allowed to continue working on her beloved species.

Money does not dictate

Several former Finnish players work on the lists of NHL clubs, for example as talent scouts and player observers.

Kapanen believes that you get enough compensation for your work, but money is not the thing that drives you to work.

– Yes, there is a sincere desire to be involved in the hockey community and to do meaningful work. The salary is secondary.

– Of course, travel and expenses are covered. The salary gets along, but the most important thing is the social network. It’s great to meet my own Flyers acquaintances.
