Prior to Wednesday’s Kärpät match, Sami Kapanen coached the hockey team last season 2019-20.
Now he returned to the bench when the Pelicans fell the Oulu club 7-4.
– An absolutely incredible feeling. I have publicly said that it has been really hard to be in hockey games this season. I haven’t got any feeling. I have looked after the individuals and the feeling has been quite flat since the matches, Kapanen admitted at a press conference.
– Today you can’t say it would have been flat. When you are nervous, you find yourself walking back and forth. You can work with yourself to stay calm enough and moderate, he added.
Three points were exactly what the doctor prescribes to the Pelicans, who was in the back of the SM league. However, the rich match was not the actual coach’s dream.
– The number of goals for one’s own will certainly not settle for either coach. We want to focus more on the things we did well. We have had challenges with offensive efficiency, and when we were able to score seven goals, it really released a lot of teams, Kapanen said.
Pelicans have only one point on the better side of the fall line. However, TPS has played two matches less.
-It is useless for us to think about how much we have a point difference on which line. We need to be able to take the game forward daily, Kapanen outlined.
