Viaplay expert Sami Jauhojärvi according to the Italian Winter Olympics sprint track has ended.
The Ylitornio native said on Saturday in a TV broadcast that the traditional sprint will be contested in the five-ring race on the same track as the Tour de Ski.
The exceptionally long track strongly divided opinions. For example, a British skier James Clugnet knocked out the race place of Val di Fiemme.
– I don’t understand why they always want to make super tough tracks for the Olympics. Usually men always ski on a two and a half minute course, but this takes a minute longer. The new track is a bit too long, Clugnet announced.
Qualifying number one on the track used in the Tour Johannes Klæbo clocked 3:17.64 for the rest of the time. The time of the Norwegian, who also won the qualification at Val di Fiemme last season, was 2:34.04.
For the winner of the traditional sprint at the Tour Jasmi Joensuu the decision fits.
– A really good track, Joensuu smiled a couple of weeks ago at the Lago di Tesero ski stadium.
Iltalehti’s skiing expert Pirjo Muranen comment on the recent decision like this:
– I don’t know where the track would have been shortened? Would there have been an intermediate twist left out, the expert begins.
– I believe that Jasmi would not have been upset if the track had been shortened. But it’s good that the track remains the same as the Tour, because Jasmi has a recent experience of success, the Lapland adds.
