Salzburg keeper wants to annoy Bayern

Philipp Köhn meets FC Bayern with RB Salzburg in the Champions League. For the goalkeeper of the Austrian series champion, the round of 16 second leg in Munich is also a return to Germany. After all, the native of Dinslaken played for FC Schalke 04 in his youth.

When RB Salzburg makes a guest appearance at FC Bayern on Tuesday evening (from 9 p.m. in the LIVE ticker), Philipp Köhn will certainly be in the spotlight. After all, the 23-year-old should get a lot of work against the favored Munich team.

The Swiss showed a strong performance in the 1-1 draw in the first leg. Consequently, the goalkeeper presented himself confidently before the second meeting.

“We saw that we can do more than just annoy Bayern. We try to go into the game like we did in the first leg,” said Köhn in an interview with “Spox” and “Goal”.

Philipp Köhn leaves the return to FC Schalke 04 open

About a year ago, the Salzburg keeper was still between the posts for FC Wil in the second Swiss division.

His career began with Köhn, whose father is from Germany, but in the Ruhr area. Through MSV Duisburg, the native of Dinslaken once made the leap into the youth team of FC Schalke 04.

When asked if he could imagine returning to the Royal Blues in the future, Köhn kept a low profile. “I haven’t thought about it yet. A lot is happening in the club right now, including me at the moment. I’m just living in the moment at the moment,” explained the goalkeeper.

In general, he has not yet received any offers from Germany, revealed Köhn. The next big goal for the RB professional is participation in the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.

Köhn dreams of participating in the World Cup

“The World Cup is just around the corner and my goal is to be there too. Of course, that only works if the club performs well. I think I’m doing very well at the moment and I’ll try to continue like that. In Switzerland we have very good goalkeepers,” says Köhn: “I want to impose myself – in the end, of course, the coach is the decision-maker.”

With a strong performance against FC Bayern, the goalkeeper could play his way further into the field of vision of national team coach Murat Yakin.
