“Saltburn” in the top 10 most unpleasant films for family evenings

Also included are “Wolf of Wall Street,” “Magic Mike,” “A Star is Born” and many more.

The past year 2023 has brought with it many good films – “Oppenheimer”, “Saltburn”, “Anyone But You” and many more. However, some of them are anything but suitable for watching with the family, unless you want to create an unpleasant situation for parents and children. A new study has analyzed which films should be removed from the family evening program based on several factors.

“Saltburn” only at number 6

“CasinoTop3.com” voted on which film had the most embarrassing factor and measured this by, among other things, the number of sex and nudity scenes, the number of people who rated these scenes as “serious,” and the number of swear words used.

A film that caused a lot of conversation towards the end of 2023, especially because of its more controversial scenes and explicit content, is “Saltburn”, which – as some may now be surprised – only ends up in sixth place. According to statistics, if you’d rather choose something more unpleasant, you should choose the 2013 film “Wolf of Wall Street,” which scores 9.5 out of 10 on the cringe scale. 91 percent of all total ratings, which corresponds to 2,869 people, found the sex scenes to be “severe”. In addition to these, the film also tops the list when it comes to swear words – there are swearing a total of 687 times.

Both “Don Jon” and “Magic Mike” scored 8.2 each. Although the latter has 18 sex scenes, seven more than its competitor, these were not considered as bad. However, both are not suitable for spending an evening without being embarrassed.

Fourth and fifth place goes to “Fifty Shades of Grey” with a score of 7.4 and “A Star is Born” with a score of 7.1. While there was more bare skin in the first, which 77 percent of all voters rated as borderline, the shame scale in “A Star Is Born” was triggered more by the 189 swear words. In sixth place is “Saltburn” with a rating of a straight 7, but closely followed by “Through my Window – I only see you” with 6.9 out of 10 embarrassing points.
