Jelena Rybakina won the Australian Open for the first time. The world number five from Kazakhstan somewhat surprisingly prevailed 6:4, 4:6, 6:4 against the top favorite Aryna Sabalenka from Belarus in the new edition of the 2023 final. For Rybakina (26), it is the second Grand Slam title after the triumph at Wimbledon 2022.

The world number one Sabalenka, on the other hand, missed her third title at the Australian Open due to her second final defeat in Melbourne. The tournament winner from 2023 and 2024 failed last year due to Madison Keys (USA). Due to the defeat against Rybakina, she has to wait for her fifth Grand Slam success.
