Saarbrücken turns game – Würzburg now bottom of the table

The Würzburger Kickers lost Monday’s 3rd division game at 1. FC Saarbrücken 2-1. The Saarland climbed to third place in the table. Würzburg, on the other hand, slipped to last place after the eleventh game in a row without a win, as the previous bottom team TSV Havelse beat SV Meppen. The Kickers have been waiting for a win for 100 days.

Early lead for Würzburg, late goals for Saarbrücken

The Lower Franconia had already taken the lead in the 2nd minute through André Becker. But Saarbrücken turned the game around in the second round and after goals from Manuel Zeitz (68th) and Sebastian Jacob (81st) there can still be hopes for the 2nd division. Shortly before the end, Würzburg’s Peter Kurzweg saw a red card for an emergency brake (90′ + 2′).

“We played a decent to really good game – away and against a really good opponent. And then follows – I’m actually tired of repeating that over and over again: certain shortcomings and luck in the match.” Würzburg’s coach Danny Schwarz at Magenta Sport
