Rutte IV cabinet sworn in | news item

The Rutte IV cabinet was sworn in at Noordeinde Palace this morning. The new cabinet is formed by VVD, D66, CDA and ChristenUnie and consists of 20 ministers and 9 state secretaries.

The swearing in before the King marks the official start of the Rutte IV cabinet.

The VVD will supply 8 ministers and 3 state secretaries to the new cabinet. D66 provides 6 ministers and 3 state secretaries. The CDA has 4 ministers and 2 state secretaries. And the ChristenUnie 2 ministers and 1 state secretary.

Ministries and ministerial posts

The ministries in the Rutte IV cabinet have not changed compared to the previous cabinet. There are, however, 4 new ministerial posts:

  • Minister for Climate and Energy;
  • Minister for Nature and Nitrogen;
  • Minister for Housing and Spatial Planning;
  • Minister for Poverty Policy, Participation and Pensions.

coalition agreement

All the plans of the new cabinet are contained in the coalition agreement ‘Looking after each other, looking ahead to the future’. This agreement was presented on December 15, 2021.

First Council of Ministers

Later today, the Council of Ministers will meet for the first time in its new composition.
