Amid loud applause, Ruth Vandenberghe took the oath as mayor in the hands of Vincent Van Quickenborne. He is the new chairman of the municipal council and will succeed Wout Maddens as alderman in two years.
Felix De Clerck, Stephanie Demeyer, Wouter Allijns and Hannelore Vanhoenacker are also members from our own ranks. N-VA will have two newcomers in the council: Giovanny Saelens and Trui Steenhoudt, while party leader Maxim Veys will remain an alderman for Vooruit.
At 29 years old, Sien Vandevelde of CD&V is the youngest elected member of the city list Team Mayor.
