The Russian ships are among the largest tallships in the world. This includes eye -catchers such as the Sedov and the Kruzenshtern who could still be seen on the last edition in 2010. The Sedov is the largest, still sailing, traditional sailing ship at the moment.
Amsterdammers we speak today understand the choice to keep the Russian ships: “Let those ships stay in Russia,” says a woman. “It’s bad enough what’s going on there, we don’t have to pay extra attention to this.” Another passer -by has a different idea: “Russia can come. But only if they invite Putin, he climbs in the mast and flickers from it,” he laughs.
Sail lasts from 20 to 24 August.
