Russian military reports attacks on Kirovohrad and Mykolayiv

MOSCOW (dpa-AFX) – The Russian military says it has fired on strategically important targets in major Ukrainian cities. “A huge ammunition depot was destroyed by high-precision missiles at the Kanatovo military airport near Kirovohrad and in the city of Mykolayiv,” Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said in his daily situation report on Thursday. In addition, a fuel depot for the Ukrainian army was destroyed in the Zhovtneva district, which also belongs to the Mykolaiv region.

The tactical air force and army aviation fired on 93 military objects during the night, and the artillery fired on more than 500 targets in total. More than 600 enemy soldiers and 61 combat vehicles were killed by artillery fire alone, Konashenkov said.

At the same time, air defense forces shot down three fighter jets, a Su-24 over Snake Island, a Su-25 over Dnipropetrovsk region and a Su-27 over Kherson region.
